Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Results in Multiple Gunshot Victims in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood
Law enforcement in Sacramento are investigating a gun violence incident that broke out Saturday night April 18 at Howe Park at the moment Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were clearing a large unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals.
What Led to the Shooting
Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies first arrived at the park on Howe Avenue around 6:30 PM on April 18 after obtaining information of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. Soon after, additional information came in concerning a reported physical confrontation breaking out at Howe Park.
Aerial units searched from above but came back with no confirmation of a fight. However, deputies found that an enormous crowd had packed into the park without official sanction.
The Dispersal and Shooting
Deputies worked to disperse the crowd by encircling the gathering and making announcements ordering attendees to go home. Roughly 15 minutes were allotted for people to comply.

The Shooting Victims

According to authorities, each of the four victims was stable.

Evidence at the Scene
The center of the incident seemed to have occurred along Cottage Way close to the Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Crime scene investigators recovered extra shell casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet damage were also found in the iron fence bordering the nearby Home Depot. This ballistic evidence pointed to that at least one shooter had been aiming south from along Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown while law enforcement worked the area. CSI units alongside detectives continued working for hours.
Suspects Detained
Reports confirmed over police scanner frequencies confirmed that a suspect Kia was pulled over in Solano County California. Four occupants were taken into custody. Law enforcement units were sent to retrieve the detainees to pick up those detained for further questioning. Video reviewed at the scene made clear that there were two gunmen.
